Lowering Carbon Emissions and Protecting the Environment – You Can Help!

 

The Banff Half Marathon continues its mission to be the “Planet’s Greenest Running Event”. We have been recognized by the United Nations as Canada’s first sporting organization to be a signatory of the “Sport for Climate Action” initiative. All Scope 1, 2 & 3 carbon emissions produced by the event and its participants are offset thanks to you and our incredible sustainability partners Karbon-X and Brightspot Climate! The offsets are used for amazing sustainability programs around the world including last year’s project of the United Nations verified cookstove replacement and water project in developing nations. Not only is the Banff Half Marathon offsetting carbon emissions, it is also trying to reduce them, as such we have pledged to accomplish a real 50% reduction in carbon footprint (including Scope 3 emissions) by 2030 - and you can make a difference now! Here is how…

 

Traveling to Banff:

 

  • Use the Event Shuttle, other Shuttles, or other forms of Mass Transportation

  • Carpool – Travel with friends, other runners, and family together in the same vehicle

  • Do you have access to an Electric Vehicle – Use it!

  • Travel at non-peak times - Before 9am or After 5pm

  • Extend Your Stay - Travel on weekdays

  • Flying? Try to book direct, non-stop flights. And choose airlines with modern efficient aircrafts and those that have sustainable programs

 

In Banff:

 

  • When in Banff or Canmore, utilize the free Roam Transit on race weekend for race participants, friends and families

  • Human Power - You can also walk, run or bike to the Expo/Race Site - Bike Valet is available on site - new this year!

Race Day Event Shuttle from Calgary Return - Less than $20 each way!

We are excited to announce that Banff Half Marathon and 10K will be offering same-day shuttles to/from Calgary - for less than $20 each way!

 

How would you like to not worry about driving to Banff, finding parking, avoiding traffic congestion and lowering carbon emissions? We have the answer! As part of the event's commitment sustainability we are offering event shuttles from Calgary directly to race site and return. There are limited spots so if you are interested confirm your spot soon!

Sunday, June 15th

Pick Up: 6:00am

Location: Calgary - Crowfoot LRT Station - Free Parking!

(Scenic Acres Parade Parking Lot #1, On-it Transit sign)

 

Return to Calgary: 2:00pm

Location: Banff Central Park

 

Cost ($39.95 Return + GST)
